Writers From All Over Gather to Blue Lagoon Island

Writing is a year-round profession for most authors, constantly making way for another character to be created or a climax to be written. However, it is the month of October that looks to be particularly appealing for a specific selection of authors, due to the anticipated return of the Salt Cay Writer's Retreat, which is hosted at the beautiful Blue Lagoon Island.

The two hosts of last year's outing are back once again to join in the October 20-26 retreat. Karen Dionne is a world renowned author of Boiling Point and is releasing an adaptation of the hit AMC television series "The Killing" in late June of this year, while Christopher Graham is a talented website designer and fiction writer for select newspapers. Both Graham and Dionne are the creators of a popular online website known as Backspace, which is dedicated specifically towards delivering a diverse community for online writers.

Everyone involved in the October writer's event is hard at work to ensure that this year's retreat is just as successful as the previous one, if not more so. Those that are thinking of registering should know that they will be learning from among the very best in the industry, which includes established authors, as well as well-known editors and literary agents. While the event from 2013 lasted a total of 6 days, this year's retreat has been reduced to five, so as to better accommodate differing schedules. Prospective registrants will have the ability to participate from all over the world, though the majority of students from the 2013 event traveled from the United States and Canada.

The retreat will generally consist of a large variety of different types of lessons, all of which students will have the ability to directly participate in. These include, though are not limited to, a writing workshop or personal lesson from one of the instructors and question and answer sessions with a number of different authors. These tend to take place in the morning, similar to the 2013 event, while the afternoon gives students the delightful opportunity to do whatever they wish to do with their free time, such as touring the island for a bit of writing inspiration or simply relaxing while fine-tuning their latest article, short story or novel.

Local writers of Blue Lagoon Island will also have the ability to choose to either attend the event for the entirety of the duration or simply join the program for a unique one day seminar that will likely take place during the first Saturday. This specialized event will be a compact version of the whole retreat. For those that are considering registering for the retreat, there are a wealth of added benefits that you may receive, as a couple of writers that attended the 2013 event have already signed with agents, due primarily to their attendance. For anyone now thinking of signing up, you can do so at the Salt Cay Retreat website, which will stay open all the way to October 1st.
