Many people that visit the Bahamas come via cruise ship. Cruiseing has become one of the most popular methods of traveling to the islands. There are several cruise ships visiting Nassau Bahamas and Grand Bahamas on any given day and the cruise ship terminals will get busy as thousands of people enter the Island once disembarking takes place
Nassau Cruise Ship Guests
Cruise ship dock in downtown Nassau, which is centrally located at the Northwest portion of the Island. The Festival Place Welcome center acts as the cruise ship terminal and information center for cruise ship visitors. Just outside the terminal are taxi cabs waiting to take guest to their attraction of choice. If you're visiting Nassau, Bahamas on a cruise ship and participating in the dolphin programs you will need to take a taxi from the cruise ship terminal (Festival Place Welcome Center), located in downtown Nassau to the Paradise Island Ferry Terminal. Taxi cabs are readily available just outside the Welcome Center. This will take about 5 - 10 minutes and will cost around $4 - $5.
Freeport Cruise Ship Guests
The Port of Freeport is located on the West side of Grand Bahama Island (Freeport). You will be porting in an industrialized area and there are no attractions near this port. Everyone will have to take a taxi to their destination of choice, which is most likely Port Lucaya. Port Lucaya is the most popular area for visitors in Freeport because most activities depart from their and this is where the Port Lucaya Marina is located. Please note that cruise ship guests that are interested in doing the dolphin programs in Freeport Grand Bahamas must book through your cruise ships.
